Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, TROW, LOW, VAL, ALU, AMWI, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Wednesday, December 7th
December 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3895 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2865 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3093 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), T ROWE PRICE GROUP INC (NASDAQ:TROW), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), VALSPAR CORP (NYSE:VAL), ALCATEL-LUCENT-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:ALU), (OTC:AMWI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.210 1.05% 12,850,043 27.07% 15,901,546 33.50% -3,051,503 Abnormal TROW $1.760 3.04% 1,881,595 31.57% 4,055,872 68.06% -2,174,277 Abnormal LOW $0.300 1.21% 8,885,021 27.58% 10,751,469 33.38% -1,866,448 Abnormal VAL $0.240 0.66% 498,148 11.78% 2,871,846 67.93% -2,373,698 Abnormal ALU $0.100 6.25% 4,721,209 31.92% 8,513,896 57.57% -3,792,687 Abnormal AMWI $0.204 51.52% 12,957,494 44.18% 15,895,994 54.20% -2,938,500 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 3,051,503 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.21000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
