December 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3643 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2613 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3259 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Tuesday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AMR CORP (NYSE:AMR), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), HEALTH CARE REIT INC (NYSE:HCN), SWIFT TRANSPORTATION CO (NYSE:SWFT), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), LEHMAN BROTHERS HOLDINGS INC (OTC:LEHMQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction AMR $0.290 68.45% 59,695,008 34.12% 53,495,048 30.58% 6,199,960 213,792 GE $0.400 2.45% 27,932,313 33.88% 24,693,200 29.95% 3,239,113 80,978 HCN $0.200 0.40% 2,663,992 91.71% 452,882 15.59% 2,211,110 110,556 SWFT $0.270 2.97% 3,294,314 78.82% 330,187 7.90% 2,964,127 109,782 CSCO $0.070 0.39% 15,942,690 53.02% 14,084,817 46.84% 1,857,873 265,410 LEHMQ $0.014 53.26% 16,598,569 55.05% 13,553,396 44.95% 3,045,173 2,190,772Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows AMR with a Net Buy Volume of 6,199,960 shares and a Friction Factor of 213,792 shares. That means that it takes 213,792 more shares of buying than selling to move AMR higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Tuesday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
