November 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3909 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2777 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3341 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. QUANTUM FUEL SYSTEMS TECHNOL (NASDAQ:QTWW), ALLIANCE BANKSHARES CORP (NASDAQ:ABVA), POWERWAVE TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:PWAV), RADIAN GROUP INC (NYSE:RDN), DARA BIOSCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:DARA), DYADIC INTERNATIONAL INC (OTC:DYAI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction QTWW $-0.170 -12.50% 198,376 46.08% 231,438 53.76% -33,062 -1,945 ABVA $-1.600 -30.65% 33,494 43.15% 40,945 52.75% -7,451 -47 PWAV $-0.330 -13.75% 155,527 47.38% 169,729 51.71% -14,202 -430 RDN $-0.350 -14.64% 2,956,601 33.04% 3,076,036 34.37% -119,435 -3,412 DARA $-0.310 -22.96% 98,235 42.95% 130,382 57.01% -32,147 -1,037 DYAI $-0.210 -12.65% 25,100 30.64% 56,811 69.36% -31,711 -1,510Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows QTWW with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.17000 and a Friction Factor of -1,945 shares. That means that it only took 1,945 more shares of selling than buying to move QTWW lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
