November 21, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3479 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1143 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5445 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SIFY TECHNOLOGIES-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:SIFY), FOCUS MEDIA HOLDING-ADR (NASDAQ:FMCN), INFUSYSTEM HOLDINGS INC (AMEX:INFU), SINO CLEAN ENERGY INC (OTC:SCEI), TASMAN METALS LTD (OTC:TASXF), KU6 MEDIA CO LTD-SPN ADR (NASDAQ:KUTV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SIFY $-0.750 -15.79% 429,057 36.58% 743,734 63.41% -314,677 -4,196 FMCN $-10.040 -39.37% 35,685,255 46.24% 36,092,481 46.77% -407,226 -406 INFU $-0.380 -20.54% 49,873 41.64% 51,063 42.63% -1,190 -31 SCEI $-0.230 -15.03% 246,387 45.71% 292,647 54.29% -46,260 -2,011 TASXF $-0.397 -16.70% 45,715 20.80% 66,600 30.31% -20,885 -526 KUTV $-0.200 -14.49% 25,313 38.92% 39,725 61.08% -14,412 -721Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SIFY with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.75000 and a Friction Factor of -4,196 shares. That means that it only took 4,196 more shares of selling than buying to move SIFY lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
