Market Maker Surveillance Report. SMTX, CRYP, BAMM, IBCP, TAT, DVOX, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, N
November 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3813 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3287 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2613 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SMTC CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SMTX), CRYPTOLOGIC LTD (NASDAQ:CRYP), BOOKS-A-MILLION INC (NASDAQ:BAMM), INDEPENDENT BANK CORP - MICH (NASDAQ:IBCP), TRANSATLANTIC PETROLEUM LTD (AMEX:TAT), DYNAVOX INC-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DVOX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SMTX $0.370 18.41% 268,666 61.37% 169,115 38.63% 99,551 2,691 CRYP $0.230 19.66% 143,978 64.72% 78,171 35.14% 65,807 2,861 BAMM $0.620 26.61% 200,921 73.14% 73,482 26.75% 127,439 2,055 IBCP $0.250 19.23% 79,534 62.38% 44,469 34.88% 35,065 1,403 TAT $0.250 21.37% 928,885 35.92% 728,260 28.16% 200,625 8,025 DVOX $0.700 20.71% 145,963 56.60% 99,893 38.74% 46,070 658Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SMTX with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.37000 and a Friction Factor of 2,691 shares. That means that it only took 2,691 more shares of buying than selling to move SMTX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
