November 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3411 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1130 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5406 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. LINKTONE LTD-ADR (NASDAQ:LTON), UTSTARCOM INC (NASDAQ:UTSI), FRONTLINE LTD (NYSE:FRO), SALIX PHARMACEUTICALS LTD (NASDAQ:SLXP), NEENAH PAPER INC (NYSE:NP), (NASDAQ:SKUL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LTON $0.080 8.00% 81,445 56.37% 44,941 31.10% 36,504 4,563 UTSI $0.090 6.34% 456,961 75.89% 145,137 24.11% 311,824 34,647 FRO $0.290 5.94% 1,371,387 37.47% 1,066,593 29.14% 304,794 10,510 SLXP $1.880 5.43% 1,068,281 50.40% 1,045,966 49.35% 22,315 119 NP $1.980 11.79% 84,216 30.52% 78,670 28.51% 5,546 28 SKUL $1.090 5.82% 313,485 53.34% 264,903 45.07% 48,582 446Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows LTON with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.08000 and a Friction Factor of 4,563 shares. That means that it only took 4,563 more shares of buying than selling to move LTON higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
