November 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3871 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2921 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2997 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. FORCE PROTECTION INC (NASDAQ:FRPT), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), DISH NETWORK CORP-A (NASDAQ:DISH), PETROLEO BRASILEIRO S.A.-ADR (NYSE:PBR), (OTCBB:CSOC), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction FRPT $1.280 30.40% 17,647,970 40.11% 25,955,451 58.99% -8,307,481 Abnormal SIRI $0.030 1.85% 17,332,595 42.69% 23,272,885 57.31% -5,940,290 Abnormal DISH $1.060 4.50% 3,480,855 39.27% 5,173,311 58.36% -1,692,456 Abnormal PBR $0.760 2.76% 4,160,873 20.56% 5,532,968 27.34% -1,372,095 Abnormal CSOC $0.012 24.60% 14,487,171 38.31% 23,287,054 61.58% -8,799,883 Abnormal QQQ $0.450 0.78% 28,420,201 48.80% 29,785,207 51.15% -1,365,006 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FRPT with 8,307,481 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.28000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
