Market Maker Surveillance Report. CRNT, IBCP, DMND, XPO, CERP, GAJTQ, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Nov
November 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3871 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2921 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2997 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CERAGON NETWORKS LTD (NASDAQ:CRNT), INDEPENDENT BANK CORP - MICH (NASDAQ:IBCP), DIAMOND FOODS INC (NASDAQ:DMND), EXPRESS-1 EXPEDITED SOLUTION (AMEX:XPO), CEREPLAST INC (OTCBB:CERP), (OTC:GAJTQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CRNT $-1.800 -17.39% 379,307 45.70% 443,157 53.40% -63,850 -355 IBCP $-0.250 -14.29% 35,643 33.18% 70,783 65.89% -35,140 -1,406 DMND $-7.300 -15.73% 3,564,375 48.09% 3,761,153 50.74% -196,778 -270 XPO $-1.720 -14.04% 56,081 32.08% 68,648 39.27% -12,567 -73 CERP $-0.530 -19.34% 85,278 41.45% 111,653 54.27% -26,375 -498 GAJTQ $-0.440 -26.04% 30,256 45.38% 33,019 49.52% -2,763 -63Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CRNT with a dollar loss Monday of $-1.80000 and a Friction Factor of -355 shares. That means that it only took 355 more shares of selling than buying to move CRNT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
