November 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4163 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2385 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3216 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), PRINCIPAL FINANCIAL GROUP (NYSE:PFG), ELI LILLY & CO (NYSE:LLY), EXELON CORP (NYSE:EXC), PRUDENTIAL FINANCIAL INC (NYSE:PRU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PFE $-0.200 -0.99% 16,913,945 38.70% 9,394,026 21.49% 7,519,919 Abnormal
     GE $-0.280 -1.68% 12,149,619 29.68% 9,430,222 23.04% 2,719,397 Abnormal
     PFG $-0.490 -1.92% 8,890,081 81.32% 586,939 5.37% 8,303,142 Abnormal
     LLY $-0.110 -0.29% 21,914,219 88.35% 1,078,241 4.35% 20,835,978 Abnormal
     EXC $-0.560 -1.26% 6,142,339 59.29% 2,037,637 19.67% 4,104,702 Abnormal
     PRU $-0.860 -1.62% 10,763,068 76.58% 818,342 5.82% 9,944,726 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 7,519,919 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.20000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
