November 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4163 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2385 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3216 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PITNEY BOWES INC (NYSE:PBI), MRV COMMUNICATIONS INC (OTC:MRVC), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), ALCOA INC (NYSE:AA), SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY (NASDAQ:STX), JEFFERIES GROUP INC (NYSE:JEF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PBI $0.190 0.96% 3,420,200 65.26% 774,885 14.79% 2,645,315 139,227 MRVC $0.010 0.74% 3,282,044 120.91% 383,703 14.14% 2,898,341 2,898,341 CX $0.200 4.45% 9,962,921 40.17% 7,909,016 31.89% 2,053,905 102,695 AA $0.060 0.55% 7,584,723 30.49% 6,252,213 25.13% 1,332,510 222,085 STX $1.070 6.19% 11,003,680 55.41% 8,706,026 43.84% 2,297,654 21,473 JEF $0.060 0.50% 13,426,940 33.78% 11,901,065 29.94% 1,525,875 254,313Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PBI with a Net Buy Volume of 2,645,315 shares and a Friction Factor of 139,227 shares. That means that it takes 139,227 more shares of buying than selling to move PBI higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
