November 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3868 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4085 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1851 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. GENERAL MOTORS CO (NYSE:GM), AMARIN CORPORATION PLC -ADR (NASDAQ:AMRN), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), ATMEL CORP (NASDAQ:ATML), LLOYDS BANKING GROUP PLC-ADR (NYSE:LYG), VONAGE HOLDINGS CORP (NYSE:VG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GM $-0.130 -0.56% 5,398,686 37.69% 3,402,373 23.75% 1,996,313 Abnormal
     AMRN $-0.860 -9.53% 7,167,662 55.63% 5,622,421 43.63% 1,545,241 Abnormal
     INTC $-0.050 -0.21% 31,387,334 55.69% 26,176,934 46.45% 5,210,400 Abnormal
     ATML $-0.080 -0.78% 9,619,909 51.38% 8,418,355 44.96% 1,201,554 Abnormal
     LYG $-0.100 -5.15% 4,723,777 33.37% 3,473,067 24.53% 1,250,710 Abnormal
     VG $-0.420 -13.42% 3,815,382 43.53% 2,706,047 30.87% 1,109,335 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GM with 1,996,313 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
