October 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4006 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2937 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2951 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Friday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), ALCOA INC (NYSE:AA), BANCO BILBAO VIZCAYA-SP ADR (NYSE:BBVA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $0.140 1.94% 89,937,820 34.35% 87,260,736 33.33% 2,677,084 191,220 BPOP $0.060 3.26% 11,781,771 55.36% 9,454,471 44.43% 2,327,300 387,883 SIRI $0.010 0.55% 16,626,591 54.51% 13,870,717 45.48% 2,755,874 2,755,874 S $0.110 4.41% 21,797,931 32.98% 19,305,144 29.21% 2,492,787 226,617 AA $0.360 3.21% 10,265,848 31.77% 8,028,631 24.84% 2,237,217 62,145 BBVA $0.150 1.55% 4,276,768 89.43% 216,790 4.53% 4,059,978 270,665Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC with a Net Buy Volume of 2,677,084 shares and a Friction Factor of 191,220 shares. That means that it takes 191,220 more shares of buying than selling to move BAC higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Friday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
