October 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4006 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2669 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3093 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), PEPCO HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:POM), PAYCHEX INC (NASDAQ:PAYX), MITSUBISHI UFJ FINL GRP-ADR (NYSE:MTU), SINO GAS INTERNATIONAL HOLDI (OTCBB:SGAS), FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NYSE:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XOM $0.030 0.04% 4,914,188 22.12% 6,490,517 29.21% -1,576,329 Abnormal
     POM $0.120 0.62% 409,965 12.94% 2,084,994 65.80% -1,675,029 Abnormal
     PAYX $0.110 0.37% 1,527,639 18.77% 5,988,999 73.60% -4,461,360 Abnormal
     MTU $0.010 0.23% 611,775 19.05% 2,359,803 73.46% -1,748,028 Abnormal
     SGAS $0.030 8.33% 35,630 1.91% 1,832,210 98.09% -1,796,580 Abnormal
     FTR $0.090 1.51% 2,784,056 18.52% 8,316,303 55.31% -5,532,247 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XOM with 1,576,329 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
