October 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4006 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2669 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3093 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Thursday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), CONAGRA FOODS INC (NYSE:CAG), METLIFE, INC. (NYSE:MET), ANADYS PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ANDS), SOUTHERN COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:SO), WOLSELEY PLC-ADR (OTC:WOSYY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $0.050 0.78% 85,187,153 33.48% 79,819,650 31.37% 5,367,503 1,073,501 CAG $0.020 0.08% 6,744,203 64.79% 1,601,358 15.38% 5,142,845 2,571,423 MET $0.720 2.29% 17,065,872 70.14% 2,411,103 9.91% 14,654,769 203,538 ANDS $0.010 0.27% 5,785,740 86.80% 879,939 13.20% 4,905,801 4,905,801 SO $0.140 0.33% 16,193,464 81.91% 1,133,182 5.73% 15,060,282 1,075,734 WOSYY $0.140 5.17% 9,066,295 56.11% 554,332 3.43% 8,511,963 607,997Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC with a Net Buy Volume of 5,367,503 shares and a Friction Factor of 1,073,501 shares. That means that it takes 1,073,501 more shares of buying than selling to move BAC higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Thursday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
