October 17, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3983 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1566 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4300 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Monday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CO (NYSE:LUV), PMI GROUP INC/THE (NYSE:PMI), DUKE ENERGY CORP (NYSE:DUK), OILSANDS QUEST INC (AMEX:BQI), NORTHWEST BIOTHERAPEUTICS (OTCBB:NWBO), CARDIUM THERAPEUTICS INC (AMEX:CXM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LUV $0.020 0.23% 3,600,734 38.12% 2,859,116 30.27% 741,618 370,809 PMI $0.020 5.52% 1,404,370 43.58% 840,403 26.08% 563,967 281,984 DUK $0.170 0.85% 4,119,526 37.13% 3,442,543 31.03% 676,983 39,823 BQI $0.010 2.96% 1,101,696 59.86% 424,278 23.05% 677,418 677,418 NWBO $0.080 16.33% 795,169 78.89% 198,716 19.72% 596,453 74,557 CXM $0.110 23.91% 2,108,092 27.09% 1,543,412 19.83% 564,680 51,335Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows LUV with a Net Buy Volume of 741,618 shares and a Friction Factor of 370,809 shares. That means that it takes 370,809 more shares of buying than selling to move LUV higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Monday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
