October 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3908 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4755 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1579 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. WET SEAL, INC. (THE) (NASDAQ:WTSLA), MARSH & MCLENNAN COS (NYSE:MMC), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), VODAFONE GROUP PLC-SP ADR (NYSE:VOD), CHEVRON CORP (NYSE:CVX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     WTSLA $-0.590 -12.72% 2,639,268 54.60% 2,184,748 45.19% 454,520 Abnormal
     MMC $-0.070 -0.26% 2,099,634 43.05% 1,116,196 22.89% 983,438 Abnormal
     PG $-0.180 -0.28% 2,630,526 31.08% 1,905,928 22.52% 724,598 Abnormal
     XOM $-0.620 -0.84% 6,778,423 27.31% 5,245,216 21.13% 1,533,207 Abnormal
     VOD $-0.060 -0.23% 5,887,392 53.06% 5,093,725 45.91% 793,667 Abnormal
     CVX $-0.090 -0.10% 2,803,128 27.96% 1,969,169 19.65% 833,959 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows WTSLA with 454,520 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.59000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
