October 3, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3644 companies with "abnormal" market making, 901 companies with positive Friction Factors and 6100 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. A M R CP 7.875 PF (NYSE:AAR), AUDIOCODES LTD (NASDAQ:AUDC), FOREST OIL CORP (NYSE:FST), MEDIA GENERAL INC -CL A (NYSE:MEG), GENTIVA HEALTH SERVICES (NASDAQ:GTIV), (OTC:HAWKQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AAR $-7.730 -36.74% 160,349 26.37% 190,708 31.36% -30,359 -39
     AUDC $-0.990 -31.73% 344,263 43.22% 451,753 56.72% -107,490 -1,086
     FST $-5.510 -38.26% 2,406,168 32.51% 2,708,477 36.59% -302,309 -549
     MEG $-0.670 -35.08% 199,681 29.26% 249,280 36.52% -49,599 -740
     GTIV $-1.840 -33.33% 1,248,320 43.40% 1,616,772 56.22% -368,452 -2,002
     HAWKQ $-1.300 -52.00% 140,080 10.70% 294,751 22.52% -154,671 -1,190
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AAR with a dollar loss Monday of $-7.73000 and a Friction Factor of -39 shares. That means that it only took 39 more shares of selling than buying to move AAR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
