September 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4471 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3152 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3014 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANCO SANTANDER SA-SPON ADR (NYSE:STD), ANALOG DEVICES INC (NYSE:ADI), APPLE INC (NASDAQ:AAPL), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), CORNING INC (NYSE:GLW), LYNAS CORPORATION (OTC:LYSCF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     STD $-0.110 -1.39% 2,736,113 38.53% 1,209,790 17.04% 1,526,323 Abnormal
     ADI $-0.220 -0.67% 1,959,684 39.31% 805,809 16.16% 1,153,875 Abnormal
     AAPL $-1.420 -0.35% 15,629,189 52.38% 13,922,686 46.66% 1,706,503 Abnormal
     S $-0.080 -2.52% 18,945,289 32.79% 15,796,406 27.34% 3,148,883 Abnormal
     GLW $-0.170 -1.35% 9,124,091 31.83% 6,825,342 23.81% 2,298,749 Abnormal
     LYSCF $-0.129 -11.73% 3,763,872 58.71% 2,410,543 37.60% 1,353,329 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows STD with 1,526,323 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
