September 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4471 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3152 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3014 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SMF ENERGY CORP (NASDAQ:FUEL), IVANHOE MINES LTD (NYSE:IVN), MAGELLAN PETROLEUM CORP (NASDAQ:MPET), CHINA INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTM (NASDAQ:CIIC), NEXXUS LIGHTING INC (NASDAQ:NEXS), ISOFTSTONE HOLDINGS LTD-ADS (NYSE:ISS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FUEL $-0.270 -10.93% 33,110 35.92% 58,635 63.62% -25,525 -945
     IVN $-1.930 -12.03% 3,672,268 28.02% 3,820,165 29.15% -147,897 -766
     MPET $-0.150 -11.28% 67,060 48.16% 72,175 51.84% -5,115 -341
     CIIC $-0.120 -11.76% 182,229 37.50% 299,609 61.66% -117,380 -9,782
     NEXS $-0.360 -22.50% 85,276 49.37% 87,443 50.63% -2,167 -60
     ISS $-1.060 -10.73% 74,369 23.59% 135,300 42.91% -60,931 -575
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FUEL with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.27000 and a Friction Factor of -945 shares. That means that it only took 945 more shares of selling than buying to move FUEL lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
