Market Maker Surveillance Report. ALTI, AMAC, DRAM, HGIC, MNKD, ADES, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, Se
September 23, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4527 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3003 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3034 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALTAIR NANOTECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALTI), AMERICAN MEDICAL ALERT CORP (NASDAQ:AMAC), DATARAM CORP (NASDAQ:DRAM), HARLEYSVILLE GROUP INC (NASDAQ:HGIC), MANNKIND CORP (NASDAQ:MNKD), ADA-ES INC (NASDAQ:ADES). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ALTI $0.160 18.71% 118,506 57.00% 89,399 43.00% 29,107 1,819 AMAC $2.710 47.63% 1,119,004 47.71% 1,068,474 45.55% 50,530 186 DRAM $0.410 38.68% 95,576 74.94% 31,965 25.06% 63,611 1,551 HGIC $6.670 26.33% 537,630 48.73% 530,378 48.07% 7,252 11 MNKD $0.760 23.90% 1,363,670 60.15% 878,787 38.76% 484,883 6,380 ADES $4.260 31.56% 80,443 58.44% 54,702 39.74% 25,741 60Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ALTI with a dollar gain Friday of $0.16000 and a Friction Factor of 1,819 shares. That means that it only took 1,819 more shares of buying than selling to move ALTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
