September 22, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3809 companies with "abnormal" market making, 771 companies with positive Friction Factors and 6239 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. STEELCASE INC-CL A (NYSE:SCS), SKY-MOBI LTD-SP ADR (NASDAQ:MOBI), PGT INC (NASDAQ:PGTI), GOLDEN MINERALS CO (AMEX:AUMN), LYNAS CORP-SPONSORED ADR (OTC:LYSDY), NOAH HOLDINGS LTD-SPON ADS (NYSE:NOAH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SCS $-1.360 -19.97% 1,659,778 30.36% 1,807,147 33.05% -147,369 -1,084
     MOBI $-0.910 -20.18% 131,379 44.93% 159,400 54.52% -28,021 -308
     PGTI $-0.380 -21.71% 40,839 40.69% 59,525 59.31% -18,686 -492
     AUMN $-2.600 -21.92% 174,272 29.68% 176,148 30.00% -1,876 -7
     LYSDY $-0.290 -22.14% 147,403 28.36% 332,439 63.97% -185,036 -6,381
     NOAH $-2.500 -21.72% 77,440 16.77% 133,776 28.98% -56,336 -225
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SCS with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.36000 and a Friction Factor of -1,084 shares. That means that it only took 1,084 more shares of selling than buying to move SCS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
