September 16, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4306 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3326 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2826 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. INSMED INC (NASDAQ:INSM), CHINA GREEN AGRICULTURE INC (NYSE:CGA), MELA SCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:MELA), LIME ENERGY CO (NASDAQ:LIME), PENSON WORLDWIDE INC (NASDAQ:PNSN), (NASDAQ:KIOR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     INSM $0.680 15.12% 248,676 68.62% 113,744 31.38% 134,932 1,984
     CGA $0.810 15.61% 163,432 35.20% 130,380 28.08% 33,052 408
     MELA $0.470 15.77% 1,481,231 53.82% 1,271,117 46.18% 210,114 4,471
     LIME $0.640 20.51% 55,234 66.70% 27,365 33.05% 27,869 435
     PNSN $0.450 28.48% 131,321 52.58% 118,439 47.42% 12,882 286
     KIOR $4.090 27.04% 180,371 59.90% 114,135 37.90% 66,236 162
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows INSM with a dollar gain Friday of $0.68000 and a Friction Factor of 1,984 shares. That means that it only took 1,984 more shares of buying than selling to move INSM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
