September 15, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4261 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3898 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2153 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CHINA NORTH EAST PETROLEUM (AMEX:NEP), ALON HOLDINGS BLUE SQ-ADR (NYSE:BSI), FUNDTECH LTD (NASDAQ:FNDT), MARCUS CORPORATION (NYSE:MCS), TRANSCEPT PHARMACEUTICALS IN (NASDAQ:TSPT), VERTRO INC (NASDAQ:VTRO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NEP $0.530 21.12% 459,124 34.06% 393,000 29.15% 66,124 1,248
     BSI $0.790 16.63% 56,807 38.19% 33,167 22.29% 23,640 299
     FNDT $5.720 32.57% 465,261 57.23% 315,988 38.87% 149,273 261
     MCS $1.530 17.57% 108,997 36.55% 107,185 35.94% 1,812 12
     TSPT $2.670 79.94% 3,869,684 50.41% 3,758,197 48.96% 111,487 418
     VTRO $0.230 17.29% 35,658 56.28% 27,695 43.72% 7,963 346
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NEP with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.53000 and a Friction Factor of 1,248 shares. That means that it only took 1,248 more shares of buying than selling to move NEP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
