September 13, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4305 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4043 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2222 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. TIMBERLAND COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:TBL), GLOBAL INDUSTRIES LTD (NASDAQ:GLBL), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), KAR AUCTION SERVICES INC (NYSE:KAR), MYLAN INC (NASDAQ:MYL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     TBL $0.010 0.03% 688,152 14.17% 3,591,641 73.96% -2,903,489 Abnormal
     GLBL $0.060 0.77% 11,027,922 42.73% 14,668,242 56.84% -3,640,320 Abnormal
     CIM $0.010 0.35% 3,313,078 31.52% 5,243,501 49.89% -1,930,423 Abnormal
     INTC $0.430 2.12% 28,000,965 46.41% 31,723,836 52.58% -3,722,871 Abnormal
     KAR $0.480 3.50% 43,021 2.23% 1,843,575 95.54% -1,800,554 Abnormal
     MYL $0.670 3.43% 4,358,902 33.04% 8,685,693 65.83% -4,326,791 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TBL with 2,903,489 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
