Market Maker Surveillance Report. NG, SBCF, TSRA, GIII, TITN, DVOX, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Sep
September 8, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4441 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2005 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4002 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. NOVAGOLD RESOURCES INC (AMEX:NG), SEACOAST BANKING CORP/FL (NASDAQ:SBCF), TESSERA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:TSRA), G-III APPAREL GROUP LTD (NASDAQ:GIII), TITAN MACHINERY INC (NASDAQ:TITN), DYNAVOX INC-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DVOX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NG $-1.200 -11.19% 2,968,138 26.21% 3,255,400 28.75% -287,262 -2,394 SBCF $-0.220 -14.19% 59,250 37.19% 100,295 62.95% -41,045 -1,866 TSRA $-1.670 -11.79% 231,142 48.99% 239,958 50.86% -8,816 -53 GIII $-4.770 -16.65% 611,127 42.98% 710,984 50.00% -99,857 -209 TITN $-4.470 -16.34% 1,118,899 48.25% 1,147,451 49.48% -28,552 -64 DVOX $-0.900 -15.08% 26,685 29.60% 57,971 64.30% -31,286 -348Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NG with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.20000 and a Friction Factor of -2,394 shares. That means that it only took 2,394 more shares of selling than buying to move NG lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
