August 31, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4269 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3914 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2630 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. VERA BRADLEY INC (NASDAQ:VRA), MITEK SYSTEMS INC (OTCBB:MITK), OPENWAVE SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:OPWV), FIBERTOWER CORP (NASDAQ:FTWR), HOLLYSYS AUTOMATION TECHNOLO (NASDAQ:HOLI), IMRIS INC (NASDAQ:IMRS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     VRA $4.570 14.95% 1,824,603 50.48% 1,728,802 47.83% 95,801 210
     MITK $1.530 15.85% 789,872 58.52% 554,287 41.07% 235,585 1,540
     OPWV $0.440 29.93% 4,329,481 53.69% 3,622,103 44.92% 707,378 16,077
     FTWR $0.420 51.95% 1,473,587 58.22% 1,057,516 41.78% 416,071 9,906
     HOLI $0.770 15.59% 350,205 53.62% 301,712 46.20% 48,493 630
     IMRS $0.560 15.18% 80,169 52.20% 72,721 47.35% 7,448 133
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VRA with a dollar gain Wednesday of $4.57000 and a Friction Factor of 210 shares. That means that it only took 210 more shares of buying than selling to move VRA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
