August 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4288 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3708 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2800 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ALTRIA GROUP INC (NYSE:MO), ZORAN CORP (NASDAQ:ZRAN), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MO $0.240 0.90% 3,621,124 26.58% 5,749,063 42.20% -2,127,939 Abnormal
     ZRAN $0.070 0.86% 2,941,862 39.91% 4,371,220 59.30% -1,429,358 Abnormal
     S $0.090 2.60% 24,895,126 34.33% 26,943,386 37.15% -2,048,260 Abnormal
     YHOO $0.160 1.17% 13,057,624 40.99% 18,766,766 58.91% -5,709,142 Abnormal
     MSFT $0.310 1.20% 27,634,662 47.16% 31,106,472 53.09% -3,471,810 Abnormal
     QQQ $0.160 0.29% 29,617,593 48.33% 31,713,138 51.75% -2,095,545 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MO with 2,127,939 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.24000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
