August 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3921 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1789 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4558 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. TIVO INC (NASDAQ:TIVO), JOHN B. SANFILIPPO & SON INC (NASDAQ:JBSS), UNIVERSAL DISPLAY CORP (NASDAQ:PANL), LIFEVANTAGE CORP (OTCBB:LFVN), NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTC:NENE), (NASDAQ:GSVC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TIVO $1.380 17.00% 8,212,303 49.52% 8,200,666 49.45% 11,637 84 JBSS $1.850 28.03% 88,465 52.08% 80,708 47.51% 7,757 42 PANL $6.480 16.03% 5,081,941 51.12% 4,714,289 47.42% 367,652 567 LFVN $0.210 14.89% 794,154 63.93% 409,896 33.00% 384,258 18,298 NENE $0.260 12.75% 53,767 30.23% 41,058 23.08% 12,709 489 GSVC $1.970 13.99% 130,160 58.12% 91,038 40.65% 39,122 199Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TIVO with a dollar gain Thursday of $1.38000 and a Friction Factor of 84 shares. That means that it only took 84 more shares of buying than selling to move TIVO higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
