August 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3921 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1789 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4558 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. AMEREN CORPORATION (NYSE:AEE), GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), PPL CORPORATION (NYSE:PPL), VALE SA-SP ADR (NYSE:VALE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AEE $-0.240 -0.81% 3,784,925 69.84% 606,355 11.19% 3,178,570 Abnormal
     GE $-0.250 -1.59% 19,124,384 28.20% 16,507,713 24.34% 2,616,671 Abnormal
     PG $-0.780 -1.23% 6,398,694 42.48% 3,102,779 20.60% 3,295,915 Abnormal
     XOM $-1.770 -2.41% 10,328,960 33.40% 6,128,416 19.82% 4,200,544 Abnormal
     PPL $-0.270 -0.96% 8,870,093 78.63% 907,651 8.05% 7,962,442 Abnormal
     VALE $-0.350 -1.32% 7,000,615 41.56% 3,436,928 20.40% 3,563,687 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AEE with 3,178,570 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.24000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
