August 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 940 companies with "abnormal" market making, 888 companies with positive Friction Factors and 613 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net buy volume on Wednesday and lowest price Friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CITIGROUP INC (NYSE:C), BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), POPULAR INC (NASDAQ:BPOP), BANK OF NEW YORK MELLON CORP (NYSE:BK), CB RICHARD ELLIS GROUP INC-A (NYSE:CBG), ARM HOLDINGS PLC-SPONS ADR (NASDAQ:ARMH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction C $0.970 3.55% 16,440,873 30.00% 15,247,679 27.82% 1,193,194 12,301 BAC $0.660 10.48% 206,421,580 34.25% 194,241,266 32.23% 12,180,314 184,550 BPOP $0.030 1.52% 4,133,370 56.91% 3,127,645 43.06% 1,005,725 335,242 BK $0.940 4.82% 4,869,453 33.65% 3,854,661 26.63% 1,014,792 10,796 CBG $0.470 3.20% 2,639,777 33.36% 1,927,708 24.36% 712,069 15,150 ARMH $0.080 0.30% 3,143,553 59.15% 2,140,024 40.26% 1,003,529 125,441Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar gains (Change) and very low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows C with a Net Buy Volume of 1,193,194 shares and a Friction Factor of 12,301 shares. That means that it takes 12,301 more shares of buying than selling to move C higher by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to move up higher as of Wednesday (lower friction). And with one of the highest Net Buy Volumes, the combination of low friction and high net buy volume is bullish.
