August 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 940 companies with "abnormal" market making, 888 companies with positive Friction Factors and 613 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALTAIR NANOTECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALTI), CVD EQUIPMENT CORP (NASDAQ:CVV), BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), ASPEN TECHNOLOGY INC (OTC:AZPN), CROWN MEDIA HOLDINGS-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CRWN), ATP OIL & GAS CORPORATION (NASDAQ:ATPG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ALTI $0.120 10.91% 66,530 55.40% 53,569 44.60% 12,961 1,080
     CVV $1.970 12.85% 203,429 56.75% 147,939 41.27% 55,490 282
     BAC $0.660 10.48% 206,421,580 34.25% 194,241,266 32.23% 12,180,314 184,550
     AZPN $2.390 17.22% 1,609,949 50.66% 1,513,393 47.62% 96,556 404
     CRWN $0.110 8.80% 36,715 51.89% 34,036 48.11% 2,679 244
     ATPG $1.570 15.39% 1,673,794 50.22% 1,604,232 48.13% 69,562 443
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ALTI with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.12000 and a Friction Factor of 1,080 shares. That means that it only took 1,080 more shares of buying than selling to move ALTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
