August 22, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4239 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2869 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3573 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. COMCAST CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CMCSA), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), CORNING INC (NYSE:GLW), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), ITAU UNIBANCO HLDNG-PREF ADR (NYSE:ITUB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CMCSA $-0.180 -0.90% 10,670,653 58.52% 7,560,555 41.46% 3,110,098 Abnormal
     WFC $-0.130 -0.57% 17,774,345 35.32% 12,717,058 25.27% 5,057,287 Abnormal
     S $-0.110 -3.30% 19,435,273 30.60% 17,086,186 26.91% 2,349,087 Abnormal
     GLW $-0.070 -0.49% 8,444,505 35.59% 5,639,657 23.77% 2,804,848 Abnormal
     MSFT $-0.040 -0.17% 31,236,288 55.45% 25,786,512 45.78% 5,449,776 Abnormal
     ITUB $-0.130 -0.78% 6,861,316 35.07% 3,742,473 19.13% 3,118,843 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 3,110,098 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.18000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
