August 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4177 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1785 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4459 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SILICON GRAPHICS INTERNATION (NYSE:SGI), TRC COS INC (NYSE:TRR), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR), CHINA JO-JO DRUGSTORES INC (NASDAQ:CJJD), BLUE EARTH INC (OTC:BBLU), (OTCBB:RYUN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SGI $3.200 26.80% 1,821,078 53.18% 1,569,775 45.84% 251,303 785 TRR $0.920 26.14% 32,356 33.25% 26,154 26.87% 6,202 67 CLWR $0.700 30.30% 13,506,070 49.70% 13,130,963 48.32% 375,107 5,359 CJJD $0.380 21.47% 158,975 55.27% 128,656 44.73% 30,319 798 BBLU $0.230 18.85% 97,055 52.36% 73,254 39.52% 23,801 1,035 RYUN $0.270 27.00% 85,956 58.10% 62,000 41.90% 23,956 887Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SGI with a dollar gain Friday of $3.20000 and a Friction Factor of 785 shares. That means that it only took 785 more shares of buying than selling to move SGI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
