August 17, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4288 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3059 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3025 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CLAUDE RESOURCES INC (AMEX:CGR), OPEXA THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:OPXA), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR), LIFE PARTNERS HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:LPHI), COLDWATER CREEK INC (NASDAQ:CWTR), EASTMAN KODAK CO (NYSE:EK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CGR $0.280 16.47% 371,025 34.54% 331,141 30.83% 39,884 1,424 OPXA $0.260 16.99% 104,184 58.67% 73,404 41.33% 30,780 1,184 CLWR $0.530 28.96% 5,883,792 51.69% 5,499,125 48.31% 384,667 7,258 LPHI $1.400 21.12% 293,433 59.23% 201,077 40.59% 92,356 660 CWTR $0.150 16.30% 446,928 52.57% 403,301 47.43% 43,627 2,908 EK $0.830 38.79% 19,677,450 34.15% 18,874,362 32.75% 803,088 9,676Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CGR with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.28000 and a Friction Factor of 1,424 shares. That means that it only took 1,424 more shares of buying than selling to move CGR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
