August 16, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4502 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2004 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4085 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. WAL-MART STORES INC (NYSE:WMT), WALGREEN CO (NYSE:WAG), FLEXTRONICS INTERNATIONAL LTD (NASDAQ:FLEX), SK TELECOM CO LTD-ADR (NYSE:SKM), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), HEWLETT-PACKARD CO (NYSE:HPQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     WMT $1.940 3.88% 6,631,815 26.31% 7,942,404 31.51% -1,310,589 Abnormal
     WAG $0.520 1.42% 2,568,147 24.77% 3,384,321 32.64% -816,174 Abnormal
     FLEX $0.030 0.53% 2,006,948 40.30% 2,972,444 59.69% -965,496 Abnormal
     SKM $0.150 1.02% 540,520 19.13% 1,984,300 70.22% -1,443,780 Abnormal
     YHOO $0.010 0.11% 11,168,555 44.15% 14,019,338 55.42% -2,850,783 Abnormal
     HPQ $0.020 0.06% 4,431,022 24.91% 5,256,604 29.55% -825,582 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows WMT with 1,310,589 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $1.94000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
