August 16, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4502 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2004 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4085 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SINOTECH ENERGY LTD-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:CTE), CHINANET ONLINE HOLDINGS INC (AMEX:CNET), CHINA TECHFAITH WIRELESS-ADR (NASDAQ:CNTF), SODASTREAM INTERNATIONAL LTD (NASDAQ:SODA), KID BRANDS INC (NYSE:KID), NEW ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP (AMEX:NEWN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CTE $-1.620 -40.30% 879,870 40.91% 1,254,358 58.32% -374,488 -2,312
     CNET $-0.330 -18.75% 27,444 43.80% 35,213 56.20% -7,769 -235
     CNTF $-0.900 -23.38% 1,042,540 47.00% 1,175,398 53.00% -132,858 -1,476
     SODA $-11.600 -23.04% 4,388,099 49.26% 4,422,004 49.64% -33,905 -29
     KID $-0.840 -18.71% 128,752 20.03% 347,158 54.01% -218,406 -2,600
     NEWN $-0.940 -27.65% 252,904 27.93% 354,564 39.16% -101,660 -1,081
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CTE with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-1.62000 and a Friction Factor of -2,312 shares. That means that it only took 2,312 more shares of selling than buying to move CTE lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
