August 12, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4359 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3443 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2848 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. (OTC:POTG), JETBLUE AIRWAYS CORP (NASDAQ:JBLU), MORGAN STANLEY (NYSE:MS), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (NYSE:JPM), RF MICRO DEVICES, INC. (NASDAQ:RFMD). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     POTG $-0.010 -5.00% 2,280,038 55.67% 1,764,147 43.07% 515,891 Abnormal
     JBLU $-0.080 -1.92% 3,287,452 54.24% 2,772,568 45.74% 514,884 Abnormal
     MS $-1.280 -7.03% 12,187,884 31.60% 11,360,157 29.45% 827,727 Abnormal
     RAD $-0.040 -3.64% 3,860,159 39.41% 2,545,548 25.99% 1,314,611 Abnormal
     JPM $-0.850 -2.32% 9,118,005 24.66% 8,532,222 23.08% 585,783 Abnormal
     RFMD $-0.190 -3.23% 4,154,166 53.35% 3,631,739 46.64% 522,427 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows POTG with 515,891 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
