August 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4454 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2128 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4406 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SMTC CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SMTX), EPOCRATES INC (NASDAQ:EPOC), QUAD GRAPHICS INC (NYSE:QUAD), MOTRICITY INC (NASDAQ:MOTR), China Information Tech Incorporated (NASDAQ:CNIT), PRIMO WATER CORP (NASDAQ:PRMW). To access Friction Factor, Naked Short Data and SqueezeTrigger Prices on all stocks please visit http://www.buyins.net .

Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SMTX $-0.550 -27.36% 135,542 43.96% 172,701 56.01% -37,159 -676
     EPOC $-6.800 -40.74% 696,148 44.94% 844,331 54.50% -148,183 -218
     QUAD $-6.750 -25.94% 153,522 23.17% 253,424 38.24% -99,902 -148
     MOTR $-2.720 -59.78% 6,848,544 47.62% 7,517,382 52.27% -668,838 -2,459
     CNIT $-0.430 -23.24% 391,225 30.66% 881,832 69.11% -490,607 -11,409
     PRMW $-8.550 -61.42% 2,293,772 47.74% 2,405,204 50.06% -111,432 -130
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SMTX with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.55000 and a Friction Factor of -676 shares. That means that it only took 676 more shares of selling than buying to move SMTX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
