August 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3498 companies with "abnormal" market making, 952 companies with positive Friction Factors and 7088 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MULTIBAND CORP (NASDAQ:MBND), SURMODICS INC (NASDAQ:SRDX), AUTHENTEC INC (NASDAQ:AUTH), WEB.COM GROUP INC (NASDAQ:WWWW), PROSHARES ULTRAPRO SHORT QQQ (NASDAQ:SQQQ), JBI INC (OTC:JBII). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MBND $0.620 22.63% 404,006 50.45% 371,888 46.44% 32,118 518
     SRDX $0.680 6.59% 146,718 46.10% 136,238 42.81% 10,480 154
     AUTH $0.260 8.97% 213,785 50.54% 200,465 47.39% 13,320 512
     WWWW $1.830 21.13% 1,865,769 49.65% 1,845,657 49.11% 20,112 110
     SQQQ $3.230 13.13% 1,477,863 55.47% 1,185,257 44.48% 292,606 906
     JBII $0.640 37.87% 80,234 25.96% 53,062 17.17% 27,172 425
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MBND with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.62000 and a Friction Factor of 518 shares. That means that it only took 518 more shares of buying than selling to move MBND higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
