August 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3744 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1824 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5303 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. BMC SOFTWARE INC (NASDAQ:BMC), LSI CORP (NYSE:LSI), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), TELEFONOS DE MEXICO-SP ADR L (NYSE:TMX), ENTERGY CORP (NYSE:ETR), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BMC $0.090 0.21% 2,466,115 42.96% 3,200,129 55.74% -734,014 Abnormal LSI $0.090 1.19% 3,906,333 30.45% 4,533,393 35.34% -627,060 Abnormal CIM $0.030 0.96% 5,665,682 24.45% 10,253,256 44.25% -4,587,574 Abnormal TMX $1.490 9.16% 3,548,063 23.91% 4,299,658 28.97% -751,595 Abnormal ETR $0.090 0.13% 810,057 25.16% 1,512,703 46.99% -702,646 Abnormal CLWR $0.130 6.16% 5,532,584 43.70% 6,536,007 51.63% -1,003,423 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BMC with 734,014 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.09000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
