August 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4303 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2461 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3375 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. AMERIGROUP CORP (NYSE:AGP), OPENWAVE SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:OPWV), MARSHALL EDWARDS INC (NASDAQ:MSHL), SABRA HEALTH CARE REIT INC (OTC:SBRA), L&L ENERGY INC (NASDAQ:LLEN), CHINA NEW BORUN CORP-ADR (NYSE:BORN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AGP $-6.310 -11.47% 1,909,733 32.70% 2,104,293 36.03% -194,560 -308
     OPWV $-0.350 -15.56% 210,122 33.46% 417,849 66.54% -207,727 -5,935
     MSHL $-0.270 -12.44% 136,187 46.67% 155,417 53.26% -19,230 -712
     SBRA $-3.350 -23.25% 1,916,474 43.95% 2,080,765 47.72% -164,291 -490
     LLEN $-0.740 -14.92% 1,071,916 46.08% 1,236,383 53.15% -164,467 -2,223
     BORN $-0.830 -11.99% 281,297 33.04% 354,460 41.64% -73,163 -881
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AGP with a dollar loss Monday of $-6.31000 and a Friction Factor of -308 shares. That means that it only took 308 more shares of selling than buying to move AGP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
