Market Maker Surveillance Report. AGP, DRIV, SAPX, TNAV, YIPI, RLD, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, July
July 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4359 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2514 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4142 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. AMERIGROUP CORP (NYSE:AGP), DIGITAL RIVER INC (NASDAQ:DRIV), SEVEN ARTS PICTURES PLC (NASDAQ:SAPX), TELENAV INC (NASDAQ:TNAV), YIPPY INC (OTC:YIPI), REALD INC (NYSE:RLD). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction AGP $-12.420 -18.42% 2,136,072 29.84% 2,175,358 30.39% -39,286 -32 DRIV $-4.800 -15.88% 1,560,975 47.53% 1,720,349 52.38% -159,374 -332 SAPX $-0.520 -20.00% 266,262 45.75% 314,946 54.12% -48,684 -936 TNAV $-7.950 -44.22% 1,099,464 45.87% 1,240,068 51.74% -140,604 -177 YIPI $-0.360 -27.07% 36,596 23.70% 61,768 39.99% -25,172 -699 RLD $-2.940 -15.96% 2,265,490 33.87% 2,343,117 35.03% -77,627 -264Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows AGP with a dollar loss Friday of $-12.42000 and a Friction Factor of -32 shares. That means that it only took 32 more shares of selling than buying to move AGP lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
