Market Maker Surveillance Report. NMRX, MSHL, CUDBF, TNCC, GCVRZ, SQNS, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday,
July 28, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4272 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2799 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3869 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. NUMEREX CORP -CL A (NASDAQ:NMRX), MARSHALL EDWARDS INC (NASDAQ:MSHL), CLOUDBREAK RESOURCES (OTC:CUDBF), TENNESSEE COMMERCE BANCORP (NASDAQ:TNCC), (NASDAQ:GCVRZ), (NYSE:SQNS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NMRX $-2.200 -24.02% 76,329 37.21% 127,383 62.10% -51,054 -232 MSHL $-0.720 -26.18% 539,567 41.39% 719,774 55.22% -180,207 -2,503 CUDBF $-0.539 -25.32% 51,000 14.86% 257,850 75.14% -206,850 -3,838 TNCC $-0.830 -34.02% 79,033 26.68% 217,150 73.32% -138,117 -1,664 GCVRZ $-0.800 -40.00% 18,611,015 45.97% 21,314,038 52.65% -2,703,023 -33,788 SQNS $-6.760 -43.81% 1,060,151 30.89% 1,245,727 36.30% -185,576 -275Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NMRX with a dollar loss Thursday of $-2.20000 and a Friction Factor of -232 shares. That means that it only took 232 more shares of selling than buying to move NMRX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
