July 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3507 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1650 companies with positive Friction Factors and 6163 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ACTIVE POWER INC (NASDAQ:ACPW), TRIQUINT SEMICONDUCTOR INC (NASDAQ:TQNT), ILLUMINA INC (NASDAQ:ILMN), LIMELIGHT NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:LLNW), (OTC:BELDF), OBSCENE JEANS CORPORATION (OTC:OBJE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ACPW $-0.400 -18.60% 1,472,206 39.13% 2,282,696 60.67% -810,490 -20,262
     TQNT $-2.380 -22.39% 3,122,435 43.37% 3,892,895 54.07% -770,460 -3,237
     ILMN $-12.300 -17.66% 5,266,645 48.88% 5,399,528 50.11% -132,883 -108
     LLNW $-0.840 -16.83% 1,272,624 45.13% 1,516,428 53.78% -243,804 -2,902
     BELDF $-0.734 -18.97% 33,000 39.43% 36,900 44.09% -3,900 -53
     OBJE $-0.310 -18.24% 33,041 37.05% 54,139 60.71% -21,098 -681
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ACPW with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.40000 and a Friction Factor of -20,262 shares. That means that it only took 20,262 more shares of selling than buying to move ACPW lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
