July 26, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4108 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2577 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3993 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALTAIR NANOTECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALTI), S1 CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SONE), QUICKLOGIC CORP (NASDAQ:QUIK), CARDIOME PHARMA CORP (NASDAQ:CRME), YIPPY INC (OTC:YIPI), TAL EDUCATION GROUP- ADR (NYSE:XRS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ALTI $0.320 25.60% 2,194,503 57.04% 1,652,998 42.96% 541,505 16,922 SONE $2.130 29.87% 18,942,182 56.73% 14,370,831 43.04% 4,571,351 21,462 QUIK $0.910 25.35% 1,190,986 51.84% 1,092,654 47.56% 98,332 1,081 CRME $1.160 26.73% 1,684,362 51.00% 1,601,307 48.48% 83,055 716 YIPI $0.230 22.77% 154,408 47.86% 63,720 19.75% 90,688 3,943 XRS $2.190 20.60% 148,819 36.49% 119,391 29.27% 29,428 134Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ALTI with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.32000 and a Friction Factor of 16,922 shares. That means that it only took 16,922 more shares of buying than selling to move ALTI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
