July 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4298 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3247 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3258 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ICAGEN INC (NASDAQ:ICGN), F5 NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:FFIV), AMAG PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:AMAG), FORTINET INC (NASDAQ:FTNT), GREENHOUSE HOLDINGS INC (OTC:GRHU), SHENGKAI INNOVATIONS INC (NASDAQ:VALV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ICGN $-1.790 -23.10% 1,363,601 33.07% 2,715,807 65.87% -1,352,206 -7,554
     FFIV $-13.690 -11.54% 2,895,905 48.29% 3,058,418 51.00% -162,513 -119
     AMAG $-2.540 -13.30% 599,527 45.82% 648,503 49.56% -48,976 -193
     FTNT $-5.280 -19.72% 9,032,550 45.36% 10,161,310 51.03% -1,128,760 -2,138
     GRHU $-0.110 -10.58% 59,170 37.54% 94,448 59.92% -35,278 -3,207
     VALV $-0.400 -11.76% 446,872 45.79% 528,988 54.20% -82,116 -2,053
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ICGN with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-1.79000 and a Friction Factor of -7,554 shares. That means that it only took 7,554 more shares of selling than buying to move ICGN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
