July 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 4034 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4602 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2200 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. REDIFF.COM INDIA LIMITED-ADR (NASDAQ:REDF), STAR BULK CARRIERS CORP (NASDAQ:SBLK), AVERY DENNISON CORP (NYSE:AVY), SYNTHESIS ENERGY SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:SYMX), RIVERBED TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:RVBD), QKL STORES INC (OTCBB:QKLS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     REDF $-1.440 -10.33% 907,622 44.52% 1,113,706 54.63% -206,084 -1,431
     SBLK $-0.390 -19.40% 6,348,574 43.82% 8,080,303 55.77% -1,731,729 -44,403
     AVY $-4.650 -12.29% 2,169,179 31.71% 2,862,288 41.84% -693,109 -1,491
     SYMX $-0.370 -14.12% 191,862 46.09% 224,442 53.91% -32,580 -881
     RVBD $-7.020 -18.11% 4,504,785 48.37% 4,673,224 50.18% -168,439 -240
     QKLS $-0.200 -10.58% 40,876 49.31% 42,020 50.69% -1,144 -57
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows REDF with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-1.44000 and a Friction Factor of -1,431 shares. That means that it only took 1,431 more shares of selling than buying to move REDF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
