Market Maker Surveillance Report. TSRA, AFFX, FARM, EGLE, DRWI, THTI, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday,
July 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4289 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3514 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2951 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TESSERA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:TSRA), AFFYMETRIX INC (NASDAQ:AFFX), FARMER BROS CO (NASDAQ:FARM), EAGLE BULK SHIPPING INC (NASDAQ:EGLE), DRAGONWAVE INC (NASDAQ:DRWI), THT HEAT TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY (OTC:THTI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TSRA $-1.820 -10.51% 169,910 45.97% 196,741 53.23% -26,831 -147 AFFX $-1.340 -16.98% 933,045 47.99% 969,856 49.88% -36,811 -275 FARM $-1.030 -10.62% 41,839 43.71% 51,627 53.93% -9,788 -95 EGLE $-0.280 -10.85% 1,218,790 39.36% 1,841,120 59.46% -622,330 -22,226 DRWI $-0.850 -13.45% 733,870 47.93% 796,865 52.04% -62,995 -741 THTI $-0.440 -12.57% 31,829 37.73% 52,529 62.27% -20,700 -470Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TSRA with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-1.82000 and a Friction Factor of -147 shares. That means that it only took 147 more shares of selling than buying to move TSRA lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
