Market Maker Surveillance Report. AMAT, RSH, HPQ, BYD, F, ENTR, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, June 30th 2011
June 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4143 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4491 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2234 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. APPLIED MATERIALS INC (NASDAQ:AMAT), RADIOSHACK CORP (NYSE:RSH), HEWLETT-PACKARD CO (NYSE:HPQ), BOYD GAMING CORP (NYSE:BYD), FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F), ENTROPIC COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:ENTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction AMAT $0.310 2.45% 8,581,859 46.76% 10,982,016 59.84% -2,400,157 Abnormal RSH $0.370 2.86% 7,346,652 24.62% 9,301,166 31.17% -1,954,514 Abnormal HPQ $1.090 3.07% 6,634,547 24.23% 9,120,475 33.31% -2,485,928 Abnormal BYD $0.310 3.67% 1,813,684 18.61% 6,368,625 65.35% -4,554,941 Abnormal F $0.420 3.13% 20,840,305 28.13% 23,695,073 31.99% -2,854,768 Abnormal ENTR $0.030 0.32% 3,000,743 28.94% 9,927,653 95.74% -6,926,910 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows AMAT with 2,400,157 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.31000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
