June 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4143 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4491 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2234 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ALANCO TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALAN), EASTMAN KODAK CO (NYSE:EK), CAROLINA BANK HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:CLBH), SOUTHERN COMMUNITY FINANCIAL (NASDAQ:SCMF), ANAVEX LIFE SCIENCES CORP (OTCBB:AVXL), LONGWEI PETROLEUM INVESTMENT (AMEX:LPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ALAN $-0.340 -15.67% 1,593,564 47.20% 1,779,259 52.70% -185,695 -5,462
     EK $-0.630 -17.55% 4,536,509 30.31% 5,311,401 35.48% -774,892 -12,300
     CLBH $-0.400 -13.56% 28,894 32.83% 59,128 67.17% -30,234 -756
     SCMF $-0.330 -23.08% 79,405 39.19% 123,186 60.81% -43,781 -1,327
     AVXL $-0.350 -13.21% 35,614 43.24% 41,530 50.42% -5,916 -169
     LPH $-0.220 -14.47% 26,860 27.22% 41,008 41.55% -14,148 -643
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ALAN with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.34000 and a Friction Factor of -5,462 shares. That means that it only took 5,462 more shares of selling than buying to move ALAN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
